Honouring Intergenerational Teachings and the Artistry of Red Cedar
Join us on Thursday, August 14, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM for a special hands-on workshop led by Ali and Bella Casey from Red Cedar Woman at the Chase Collaboration Centre in Vancouver’s Yaletown.
Daughters of Coast Salish artist and cultural educator Jessica Silvey, Ali and Bella are keepers of traditional teachings and skilled weavers. In this workshop, they will guide participants in working with red cedar, offering insights into the cultural significance, spiritual care, and intergenerational knowledge that surrounds this sacred practice.
Participants will:
- Weave a small piece using traditional techniques
- Learn cultural protocols and teachings related to red cedar
- Connect with others through shared reflection and creation
